Group Financial Controller
Australian arm of global record company, Sydney.
Managed a team of 30+ including the offshore outsourced function, with a dotted line to the NZ F/C. Overseeing management accounting, FP&A and working capital management, along with quantitative accounting processes such as A/P, and royalty payment processing. Company secretary for 8 businesses consolidating into EMI Music Group Australia. 12m maternity contract.
Achieved aggressive targeted profit in declining market. Achieved cash conversion target of 100% by management of working capital in order to assist the group in meeting their quarterly covenants. Only territory globally to achieve these P&L and cash conversion objectives. Liaised closely with UK Treasury, prepared and communicated weekly cashflow forecasts, pro-actively managing cashflow goals with the EMI Australia cash
Drove the performance improvement of the outsourced function. Travelled to India to help prepare a detailed 100 day step-by-step plan. Provided feedback on weekly governance and operational calls as primary contact at EMI. Reviewed and verified monthly KPIs, transitioned remaining tasks across from the local team per the Statement of Work. Managed the update of procedure documentation for the outsourced function processes.
Managed regulatory audit (AMCOS, copyright regulators). Original claim was for unpaid copyright royalties of $2.8m, reducing the final settlement by $2.4m by means of forensic investigation with the copyright team.
Developed financial models to analyse business spending and monthly departmental reporting in order to control costs and hold department heads accountable for overspends. Put together budget in conjunction with these businesses for greater buy-in and departmental sign off.
